Galaxy Background with Distress Oxide + Spectrum Noir

I LOVE galaxies. I am a little obsessed with them… Okay, a lot obsessed. I have made galaxies using several different mediums, but one of my top favorites is Distress Oxide Ink. It is so easy to use, and blends beautifully. The fact that it oxidizes with water adds even more to the galaxy effect.

I used my new stamp set, Lettered and Lovely, to emboss my favorite greeting from the set in white. I added a few of the little stars around the greeting to create a starry sky. Because Distress Oxide Ink contains pigment, it does not dry instantly like a dye ink. Make sure to let it dry for a while, or the embossing powder will cling everywhere. Yes, I am speaking from experience. (ugh)

I die cut the galaxy and layered it over foam adhesive to give the card some dimension. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to create a star background, and die cut that background with a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die. The background didn’t ‘pop’, so I decided to add some Spectrum Noir sparkle. When in doubt, add sparkle.
